On Thursday 4th December, the NeuroHealth team gathered for our Winter Company Meeting & Training Day – and true to the festive season, it was an absolute cracker!
It was fantastic to reconnect with colleagues for a day dedicated to learning, collaboration, and wellbeing. The agenda was thoughtfully curated to combine practical skills, professional insights, updates from across internal teams and a unique sound bath experience for a touch of relaxation.
Morning Highlights:
We kicked off with the “Microsoft for Productivity Ninjas” workshop delivered by Deane Marwa from Think Productive this session was all about unlocking the full potential of Microsoft 365 to transform the way we work. From Outlook and Teams to Lists, Planner and Copilot, we explored tools that help streamline workflows and boost productivity. The workshop blended group discussion with hands-on exercises, enabling us to build our own ‘Microsoft second brain’ – a system to manage tasks, projects, and priorities more effectively.
Afternoon Insights:
Case Manager Brett Polkinghorne shared an insightful case study involving a client with a severe traumatic brain injury and a highly complex care and neurorehabilitation package. Brett highlighted the challenges of taking over the case at a critical stage and demonstrated exceptional scenario planning, problem-solving, and adaptability – all essential skills for managing complex cases successfully.
Wellbeing & Innovation:
We then shifted gears to explore the healing power of music with Sound Bath Practitioner Shirley Stump. Shirley introduced us to sound baths – immersive experiences using harmonious sounds to promote deep relaxation and emotional wellbeing. We learned about “entrainment”, the principle where rhythmic sounds synchronise brainwaves, reducing stress and improving mood, focus, and even sleep. Shirley shared inspiring stories from her practice, supporting children, adults with neurological conditions, care home residents, and those at end of life. Feedback consistently points to reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and a sense of peace – benefits that extend beyond relaxation to support neuroplasticity and overall health.
Adding to the wellness theme, we were delighted to have ‘Cristian Sirbu from iBalance Therapy offering chair massages throughout the day – a welcome treat for everyone!
We rounded off the day by stepping away from work and enjoying some festive drinks together. It was a chance to catch up, share stories, and celebrate the year’s achievements in a warm and joyful setting.
A huge THANK YOU to our incredible speakers – Deane, Brett & Shirley – and to everyone who joined us. Your enthusiasm, openness, and commitment to learning made this event a resounding success. Here’s to continuing this spirit of collaboration and growth into the new year!
