Yesterday, a group of our Case Managers and support staff came together for Level 3 Safeguarding refresher training provided by Sayers Social Care Consultancy, and expertly delivered by Lucy Naven.
The training provided a valuable opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions, taking a step back from inboxes, phone calls and meetings, and refocusing on an essential area of the work we do – keeping vulnerable individuals safe.
As a group, we explored how personal experiences and perspectives can shape our thinking and decisions, emphasising the importance of preventing any form of bias from influencing our practice and procedures.
The session was a valuable opportunity to resharpen our understanding of safeguarding principles and responsibilities at an advanced level, including:
– Reviewing the latest legislation and guidance.
– Discussing practical insights into recognising and responding to complex safeguarding scenarios.
– Analysing real-world cases of safeguarding failures and what can be learned from these.
– Utilising resources and guidance to ensure best practice across different clients and situations.
Safeguarding is more than just a policy, procedure, form filling or training course – it is the responsibility of everyone, every day, to protect the rights and dignity of those who are most vulnerable, creating safe environments where they can thrive.
